The beginning is very hard for a poker player, because you are alone in this “adventure”.
Friends, relatives, family and other people you know may not understand you. Many people will consider you a “clown” (metaphorically speaking 🙂 ).

Maybe you think it’s not fair…well then life isn’t always fair.
You read books, watch videos, play freerolls and learn. Eventually you have a pretty “nice” bankroll . Bankroll is created like a snowball dropped from the top of the slope, but just as quickly, it can also break. This article is my way of “breaking the ice”.

You have to be unique (or some kind of hybrid)

Otherwise you don’t stand much of a chance, because there are so many poker players (people who play for fun, Beginner – Amateur – Apprentice – Semi Skilled – Skilled – Advanced – Advanced Pro – Platinum – Elite or however everyone wants to define them).

You also have to have the mindset to be prepared for what Poker is all about and to be a professional poker player.

Once you start going down this road, you don’t have to stop, even if you get a lot of bad beats (it’s the same in life as it is in Poker), even if you get stressed out or no one supports you. It can be your dream. Many will say: “well it’s just a dream…”, like George Carlin (The reason they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it).

But if you don’t dream, and have no aspirations or vices then you’re a robot… ha ha ha.

Or maybe in Poker you have to have Robot + creativity skills too. As an example – Tom Dwan aka Durrrr.

You have to have confidence in yourself. Persevere

A lot of people would say “well it doesn’t really matter about that kind of polology, especially if you win a big tournament”. Yes, it’s possible, but until you get to win that tournament…You need to trust the process. What’s behind Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, you don’t really see.
It’s a lot of hard work and dedication.

Essentially you have to know yourself. No one can tell you what to do in life and no one will believe in you unless you are the first to give yourself a chance.

In the meantime, you play another tournament, another cash game, win a few pots, run out of bankroll and life goes on.

I know this may seem rather blunt, but it is as true as it gets.

“But always remember that you have to move forward. If people stick a finger in your face and tell you you’re no good, don’t start blaming someone else. But it’s not about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how you win! Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go get what you’re worth. But you have to be willing to take the hits and not point fingers saying you’re not where you want to be because of him, her or anyone else! Cowards do that, and you are not! You’re better than that!” Rocky Balboa
